In accordance with the writing assignment that we have to do for this coming Monday, I decided that it would be most beneficial to my time to write about the person that I ended up observing. At first, I started to observe a woman that walked in right about the time that I did, but she ended up leaving about two minutes after she arrived. This forced me to choose another subject for my observations. Looking around, I saw many good candidates for my purpose, but one in particular caught my eye. It was a woman, she was about my height, so I would say 5 feet 8 inches tall, and she was slightly overweight. Not drastically, but noticeably. She seemed to be a little self conscience of her appearance because she worn quite a bit of makeup and became tense every time a "cute" boy seemed to walk by. Just looking at this, I could make the assumption that she was a freshman at Eastern because of her high school-like attitude towards what seemed to be important to her. Regardless of her appearance, she wore tight clothing. A pink shirt was covered up by a green coat that looked really thick. Below that, she worn a pair of jeans with flowers embroidered on the side and the back pockets. She was also wearing large, fuzzy boots, most likely because of not only the cold, wet weather, but also to make a fashion statement. She at first started looking at all of the choices of computers and went to a MAC computer and sat down there. She looked like she was doing work for quite some time because she was intensely focused on whatever was on her screen. After a while, she either finished her work, or just got bored because she started to look around at other people and was laughing at something funny on her computer. She was there for about an hour and 15 minutes total. About 45 minutes into my observations, her cell phone rang and she answered it. She seemed to be upset at whoever was on the other end of the phone because she hung up quite quickly after a short conversation and then sat in her chair with a disgusted look on her face. Soon after, she got up and picked up a magazine over close to the information desk and started to read. It looked like she did this because she needed to calm down and she knew it. After that she read until she left. Picking up her backpack, she left in a better mood than the phone conversation made her in.
Overall, she was the most interesting character to catch my eye and her events were well worth the watching. Hopefully, my assumptions were valid and were very helpful in my research for this project.
